The Team: The project team is a cross-disciplinary group of students, staff, and faculty from Western Michigan University (WMU), combining expertise in sustainability, dining services, research, and campus operations to collaboratively advance organics recycling solutions on campus.

NextCycle Michigan Project: This project seeks to develop a business case for diverting over 80,000 pounds of organic waste generated in WMU’s dining centers away from landfills. During NextCycle Michigan, the team will focus on identifying and evaluating alternative solutions, engaging stakeholders, and developing a financially and logistically viable plan to launch large-scale organics diversion.
