The Team: Veolectra is a for-profit product develop company located in Farmington Hills, Michigan, that is focused on engineering and developing electric vehicles (EV), EV conversions, EV sub-systems (e.g., motors, controllers, and battery packs), as well as support with prototyping and product launches.
NextCycle Michigan Project: EV batteries that have reached their end-of-useful-life are at 70% capacity degradation. Veolectra has the capability to utilize those batteries through their Omni Battery Management System to power portable energy stations to recharge EVs, emergency first responders, and off-grid power solutions. This team seeks to develop a demonstration system for repurposed EV battery packs and cells that create power for portable power stations. During NextCycle Michigan, the team will work with coaches to refine the battery management system, understand regulatory/permitting issues, identify funding pathways, and connect with potential partners and key stakeholders. This project will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduce the need for mining natural resources, and create jobs.
