NextCycle Michigan Project: Volt Harbor is developing an affordable, commercial-scale 60 kWh/30 kW battery energy storage system (BESS) made from retired, second-life electric vehicle (EV) batteries. Its patented MAC-BESS technology allows for safe integration of mixed batytery modules from different manufacturers and chemistries, reducing costs by 30–50% and streamlining deployment. During their time in NextCycle, the team aims to pilot test their first commercial-scale system, refine their business model, and establish sourcing partnerships.
