The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is launching a Battery Circularity Program to improve how batteries are collected, recycled, and reprocessed across the state.
This stakeholder meeting will aim to gather input from organizations across the battery and recycling landscape. Discussion topics will include current successes, gaps and safety concerns, opportunities to expand recovery, and how education, funding, data, and infrastructure can better support residents and communities.
The program spans consumer single-use batteries, consumer rechargeable batteries, and electric vehicle (EV) battery units. The meeting will include facilitated breakout rooms to allow for focused, small-group conversations on key topics. This is an open, collaborative discussion, and broad participation is encouraged.
