ReMark Composting Solutions and Wayne State University came into NextCycle seeking to develop a community-centered composting model in Detroit. This grew from a Pilot project previously implemented by the team. During the track ReMark/WSU refined the vision for a hub and spoke model for the city of Detroit with WSU as the first hub. Track coaches and mentors worked with the team to provide guidance on best practices for site selection and operating guidelines, in addition to contributing market research and communication planning support. ReMark and Wayne State are currently working on scoping an application for the EGLE Market Development Grant to begin implementing the phased plan and are seeking other funding partners to help execute this unique vision.
