Takachar, headquartered in Petaluma, California, develops technology that transforms organic waste into marketable bio-products for communities. Currently, Takachar is bringing small-scale biomass conversion equipment (Takavators) to Michigan to address wood waste from forest operations, storm and utility clearing, municipal yards, and industrial packaging waste. These onsite systems convert waste materials into biochar-based fertilizers, chemicals, and biofuel.

During NextCycle, the team will develop a business case from its current pilot, navigate local permitting, and identify partners to scale and deploy additional units in Michigan.
