The Team: The City of Detroit General Services Department—Sustainability Division and Wood Work Detroit are focusing on the sustainable and economically viable reuse of wood from urban trees. By repurposing wood from snags and urban tree removal, it reduces the need for virgin materials and minimizes waste while creating economic opportunity for skilled carpenters and joiners.

NextCycle Michigan Project: The Wood Work Detroit team will focus on assessing feasibility and developing a business strategy to collect wood from urban tree removal, snags (standing dead and dying trees), and pruning to be repurposed into furniture, wooden products, and musical instruments.
